Isle of Earth Bicarbonate of soda ash

Sodium bicarbonate, commonly known as baking soda, is a salt consisting of sodium ions and bicarbonate ions. It has a white crystalline form, a slightly salty, alkaline taste and a high solubility in water. Apart from its natural origin, it is also produced artificially. Its use dates back as early as the 4th-3rd millennium BC, when the ancient Egyptians used it as a raw material for dyeing their hieroglyphics. Since then, its miraculous properties have become known and it has never ceased to be used in human history.
